Boondocking in Altoona, Florida February 2023. This is a quiet boondocking spot except for the occasional light sound of trucks rumbling by on the main road. The road into this boondocking spot is a bit rough but passable so log as you go slow. At the fork go left and the lake will soon appear off to your right as the road opens up into a small parking lot.
The site is off to the left up a small incline which has plenty of space to park a regular size or extended van. It you have a high roof be careful of the low hanging branches at the beginning of the site. This works out great to give you some privacy. Also this boondocking site a “fire pit” ring if you have some wood. There was a little bit of trash which I picked up but otherwise it was pretty clean. In the parking lot off to the right after the lake entrance there is a small spot to back into and car camp as well.
Continuing on after the parking lot gets pretty sandy and has some deeper ruts. I would not attempt it in my rig – Ram Pro Master 2500. A vehicle with high clearance and traction could easily continue on past this point. I stayed here for about 4 days then moved on. Over the weekend there where a few vehicles in the lot fishing. I originally found this spot on the free roam app.
