Dog Lake is a beautiful 5 mile out and back hike on a well maintained trail. There is a section of the trail, about .5 miles from the lake which was redone to make the hike more family friendly. This winter no one is using the new portion of the trail. The original trail is more direct and heads straight up to the lake. I highly recommend spikes for this hike. About halfway through the hike a skiing trail runs along the path. Dog Lake is peaceful but there are no spectacular views.
